* Distracted Soul * I’m not alright I’m not alright I’m looking at a broken life Distracted Soul You’ve got to burn to grow Got asked the questions Refused to reply Uncompromising … uncompromised Want to meet my demons But the gulf is too wide Stolen jewels concealed in the darkness That’ll never shine Heal the unconsoled And burn to grow Maybe it’s time that I took a break Feel so drained by so much give and take And it’s taking much more Than I want to give And I’m giving much more … Than I can take Seem to have lost all appetite Don’t want to try Lost my fight Lost my bite Segregated in an alien state Fractious mind Distracted Soul You’ve got to burn to grow It’s a fine line Between what is wrong And what seems right And it’s high time That I worked out Just exactly what is it …That I want ............................................ * Dance Of The Flamingos * Dancing on the brink of extinction In the World of Yesterday He thought he caught a glimpse of the future And its consequences How life could change And what the impact would be He found it illuminating But it was unsettling He wouldn’t allow The strength of his convictions To betray false allegations He knew it’d be possible He’d be mistaken He took his time And thought things over The twists and turns Of the narrative Are designed to undermine All insurgency “Beware of purity and of pity” He racked his brains Before he rolled the dice Tried to make some sense of the turmoil Tried to gain some insight Where lies the truth In a web of prejudice? How long can resistance last Before a victim‘s trapped? ................................................................. * Not Summer, Not Winter …. Just Cold * I’ve got responsibilities But practicality conflicts with theory And I get het up And everybody says “Hey …, what’s up?” But I can’t lie down And I won’t lie down The French say “Chacun à son goût” When I’m at home I like to relax, in slacks, And a roll neck sweater Waiting around To avoid the cold weather Drinking black coffee And dreaming how I want life to be Don’t set me up If you’re going to bring me down Give me one more chance To get the best of me I can’t think of much That unnerves me or disturbs me I like to stay focused And detached Don’t set me up If you’re going to bring me down Give me one more chance To get the best of me ................................ * The Hidden Truth * “The lights are out And nobody’s home What in the world Could have gone wrong?” Unlock the door And step inside You’ll be surprised At what you find All those feelings That you suppressed They’re well and truly alive They’ve survived in you They’re alive They’re viral in you Storm clouds are gathering On my horizon I haven’t slept That well in a while I feel a sense of Dark foreboding The tightening grip Of a stranglehold What about you? What about me What about the future…. We were anticipating What’s it going to be? Who will atone For the loss in Power of attorney? I like the world Refreshed by the rain True relief A sense of restraint Time to think and contemplate What was lost And what was gained Fractured, disabled and damaged I just want to try and forget Everything that just happened Let solace flow in the veins of regret

* My Resurgence * Seems like I finally Woke from a nightmare Now in the daylight It all seems so much clearer This is the new life This is my resurgence The probes are attached And the table’s inclined To an angle of 60 degrees The waiting starts After seven minutes The cold’s bleeding up in me Pressure drops to 50 over 20 And I’m just about ready to go Then everything stops Reverse the elevation Return to reality I’ve got a new life This is my resurgence Feel the warmth bathe over me Back on the streets Walk through town Down on along to the bridge The world’s in Technicolor It’s etched on my memory My sight was blurred Now it’s crystal clear 20/20 vision’s returned I remember the time when I felt alive Now, I feel it once again I love this new life This is my resurgence Feel the waves wash over me This is my resurgence ........................................................ * How Hard Can Your Heart Ache? * Remember when I said those words Remember that I meant them too Remember that I was the one Who told the truth Caution smiles inside a jigsaw mind Inside the arms of love There’s a guiding star that’ll never shine How hard can your heart ache? How come you can’t think straight, With your mind in a strange state, Playing strange games? I will never really understand why, You and I never tried And now, my heart is aching Imagine, you told the truth Imagine, that you meant it too Imagine, in the end it was just a lie You were abused Became a user I was confused I became a user too How hard can your heart ache? How come you can’t think straight With your mind in such a strange state, Playing strange games? I will never really understand why You and I never tried And now, my heart is aching The seeds were sown in another time And our fate was sealed in a different place Another time A different place Back then it seemed like We had escaped But doubts were there All of the time Back there In the back of our minds What you wanted to be What I wanted you to be In the twilight of those dreams It didn’t take too much To break through the veneer Our fate was sealed Did you tell the truth? Did you tell the truth? Did you tell the truth? ................................................. * Analogue Mind Digital World * Got a message from you That I could not ignore My head’s in the clouds Feet on the floor Into the wilds Of the unknown Radicalised Out of control Analogue mind, digital world Did you volunteer? Are you resolute? Would you change your mind If you could? Laughing out loud Crying inside Scaling the heights Lost in free fall Bleeding all life Can’t stem the flow Analogue mind, digital world Did you volunteer? Are you resolute? Would you change your mind If you could? Analogue mind, digital world Repeat it, repeat it, repeat it again Repeat, repeat it, repeat the refrain Take it apart, put it together again Take it apart, put it together again Keep it wild It’ so absurd Take it down Analogue mind digital world Analogue mind digital world ......................... * Endless Orbit * A divide so wide That it can’t be breached Fractured trust A broken dream Disabled feelings Damaged beyond repair Reconciliation tantalizingly Out of reach Fractured, disabled and damaged Irreconcilable differences Irretrievable breakdown An endless orbit A dystopian dream The force field’s intact Without any horizon Irreconcilable differences Irretrievable breakdown Someone at fault Someone to blame Someone’s at fault Someone’s to blame Recriminations fly From all the distress From all the distress From all the distress From all the distress Irreconcilable Irretrievable No one’s at fault No one’s to blame Someone’s at fault Someone’s to blame Someone’s to blame Someone’s to blame
